The Christmas cheer keeps on growing in apt 606!!
Written by JKM on December 8th, 2008
Yah, I know…can you believe it? But I know you’re loving all this Christmas stuff!!! How is everyone doing? My mom, dad and I are guess what?!—-watching “Frasier”! My lips are annoyingly chapped (a side effect to all this stuff) and I’m so full of food, I feel like I could burst, but other than that, all is well!!!! I don’t know if it’s the Prednisone that makes me eat more…I’ve gained five pounds, but some is water weight (and cheek weight) :), but when dinner rolls around, I’m hungry! I pretty much clean my plate at each meal, and have some Doritoes at night. It’s weird because I know I certainly don’t need to eat because I’ve already eaten, but the food’s there, and I think to myself “Well, pretty soon I’ll be back in VA and I won’t have so many sweets around…” I know, I have to get myself under control here! No worries though. I’m still walking and I can hopefully step up the exercise and step down the eating.
I’m feeling a little tired tonight, so maybe that’s a good thing! I didn’t sleep too poorly last night, so hopefully tonight will be a repeat!
My dad leaves tomorrow, and I’ll really miss him, but I know I’ll be back in VA soon!! I just keep thinking those good thoughts.
I hope you’re all doing well and you enjoy the photos!!!
Love from Seattle,
Julie

Here we are trying to find out how to get to the "magical Christmas experience" Mom heard about through someone at Hallmark....2nd stop at a gas station to find out how to get there. :)
-
-
That's Northgate Mall over there, and apparently we're REAL close by to this Christmas place!
-
-
Hmmm....the guy said it's right near a "76" which should be here....I dunno....what do you think? Is this a promising lead? :)
-
-
Oh! Here we are!! Hmm....not quite what we imagined, but let's not judge too soon!
-
-
So it's actually a store--full of party and Xmas decorations.
-
-
hahahaha I see you laughing over there---we made it!! So it's not the festival of lights like last night, but who knows what happy decorating awaits us inside those doors?
-
-
The entrance.
-
-
OK, here we go!!!
-
-
And several hours later, we're home with a tree!!!!! :) It was a cool store, and there was a very helpful lady there who led us to this awesome tree!
-
-
Before finishing the decorating, Dad and I took my typical neighborhood walk....Tiso, another decoration for you!!! (Am I carrying this too far?!!) :)
-
-
A close-up....what's that green stuff? Playdo to hold the nose on?
-
-
And THAT would be a big pile of horse crap....right in my display! I think I told you before that on weekends, they bring horses and carriages to our street, and they must head downtown from here to give people rides...guess that horse told us what he thinks of the holiday display!
-
-
We did a little shopping at REI, so by the time we walked home, it was dark! Just wanted a pic of my street---I think you can see the Space Needle way back in there. :)
-
-
The new lights on our street change color...pretty cool.
-
-
Mom breaks out her collection of all the White House Christmas ornaments which look gorgeous on our little tree.
-
-
Good work, you guys!!! Very good!!
-
-
Dad makes sure that each one gets the perfect spot on the tree.
-
-
I know I can get this darn star up there...with wire, lots of wire!!
-
-
What do ya think?!
-
-
Dad's favorite seat just got better!!!
-
-
Admiring the work we've done.
-
-
Here she/he is! Now, I think a tree of this character requires a name, so we have a few to choose from....what do you think. My dad suggested "Clyde" and "Horace"----don't know why, they just popped into his mind....I thought perhaps a Native American name since there's so much Native American culture here in Seattle (perhaps "Halona" (which apparently means 'of happy fortune'...or "Kokyangwuti"-spiderwoman of middle age hahahahahah OR "Ti-see-woo-na-tis"-she who bathes with her knees hahahaha....my mom suggests Daphne (in honor of all the "Frasiers" we've watched and we all love Daphne).
-
-
We covered this one with White House Christmas ornaments my mom brought with her.
-
-
And a cheerful wreath with an ornament from the Dowdys--we love it!!!!
-
-
Dad lights up all the candles.
-
-
My mom decorated them with little snowmen that had all our names on them! She coupled them off so here's Laura and Tiso (AKA Benjamin).
-
-
Katie and I haven't found our perfect snowmen yet, so we stand alone!!
-
-
Mom and Dad anchor each side of the tree.
-
-
Here I am! Yup, Katie, nothin' wrong with standing alone!!!
-
-
And there's Dad!
-
-
The whole fam together.
-
-
Don't Ronnie and Kathy look cute?!!
-
-
And finally, a nice little nightlight I found....seriously, our apartment is all decked out!!!!

We’re having January temperatures here and did get a dusting Saturday afternoon, so maybe we’re getting the worst of winter over with before you come back in January. It looks like Seattle makes up for the lower sunshine with more Christmas decorations Love the pix.
I say give into the prednisone and eat what you want! You are genetically thin so you’ll drop the puffies as you drop the prednisone. My guess is you’ll be your normal figure by swimsuit season. So have another slice of pie!

Great entry! The apartment is looking wonderful!…my vote for the tree is either daphne or eddie. :p. And i’m VERY interested in how Dad came up with his names

I vote for Daphne too, and I LOVE all the decorations. Makes me feel very un-christmasy….as I just put up a measly wreath. I’ll have to get crackin!

I love all the snowmen/women. Their little faces are so adorable!
